You switch to a new tray every two weeks until your teeth are fully aligned.
However the difference is obvious. Wearing your Invisalign clear trays will not affect the look of your smile the way steel braces do. They are nearly invisible in many instances and of course, they can be removed for an evening on those special occasions, whereas once committed to steel braces they will remain on your mouth until the entire process is completed.
Most patients wear the aligner trays for 20 to 22 hours a day. You will remove them for meals, and not have to worry about eating certain foods that are known to stick in metal braces making it difficult to clean afterwards. Invisalign comes off when you brush your teeth as well. Get a good brushing and flossing as usual, you can clean your Invisalign trays with the specialty crafted cleaning kits or with simple soap and water. Slip them on again when done cleaning, what can be easier? With Invisalign there is no temporary difficulty maintaining good oral hygiene.
The plastic used in the aligner trays are non-toxic and made of the most comfortable plastic science has provided to insure that you can go about you day without any uncomfortable effects of your Invisalign treatment. The best part is they are nearly invisible. Furthermore if you have an active sports life, particularly with contact sports the steel braces are always a potential source of cutting your mouth. With Invisalign you simply remove them before your activity. You can even wear a mouth guard when called for and slip on your aligner trays when done playing hard. As you can see; straightening your teeth wih Invisalign is a lot less intrusive on your daily life.
